The Montauk Point Lighthouse was completed in 1796. Its place on the eastern tip of Long Island makes it a landmark both from the water and from the shore.
The Montauk Historical Society took ownership in 1996. Today, the society preserves the lighthouse and tells the stories behind this familiar coastal landmark.
