These terms cover your use of montaukfishingjournal.com (the "Site"). The Site is the Montauk Fishing Journal. It's published by Anglers LLC, which also publishes noreaster.com. By using the Site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.

1. What this site is

The Montauk Fishing Journal is a local publication about fishing and time on the water in Montauk, New York. We publish dated fishing reports and weekly roundups, a short directory of boats and shops, tide information, and local guides and stories. For how we source and label content, see our About page.

2. Information only: not a safety guarantee

Everything on the Site is general information. Fishing conditions, trip schedules, access rules and regulations change, often without notice, and some of what we publish summarizes other people's public reports.

  • Marine and shore safety are your responsibility, and the responsibility of the vessel operators you fish with. Nothing on the Site is a safety guarantee or a substitute for current National Weather Service marine forecasts, surf and rip-current statements, U.S. Coast Guard notices, or the instructions of a captain, crew, lifeguard or park staff.
  • Regulations: we link to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and other official sources. Always check the current official rules before you fish. Where our summary differs from the official source, the official source controls.
  • Tides and weather: tide times are predictions, and forecasts are forecasts. Actual water levels, currents and conditions can differ.
  • Schedules, prices and access: boat schedules, fares, parking and permit rules belong to the businesses and agencies involved. Confirm them directly before you travel.
  • Rocks, jetties, bluffs and surf are dangerous. Don't rely on anything here to decide whether a place or a condition is safe for you.

To the fullest extent the law allows, the Site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. That includes warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the fullest extent the law allows, Anglers LLC won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss or injury, arising from your use of the Site or your reliance on its content. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain disclaimers or limitations. In those places, this section applies only as far as local law permits.

3. Advertising disclosure

The Site may show advertising served by Google. When ads appear:

  • Every ad unit is labeled "Advertisement" and kept visually distinct from editorial content.
  • Advertisers don't review, approve or influence our reporting, roundups, directory or guides.
  • An advertiser's presence isn't an endorsement by the Montauk Fishing Journal.

4. Recommended links and directory listings

  • Recommended links are editorial; we are not paid for them. They point to the regular homepages of local shops and operators we think readers may find useful, and they aren't affiliate links. If we ever join an affiliate program, we'll name the program here and label the affected links before any such link appears.
  • Directory listings are editorial. A listing isn't a sponsorship and can't be bought. Listing details (names, websites, dock locations) come from the businesses' own public pages and are dated when checked. To request a correction, use our Contact page.

5. Our content and how you may use it

Unless otherwise noted, the text, layout and original graphics on the Site are owned by Anglers LLC or used with permission, and are protected by copyright and other laws.

  • You may read, print, and share links to our pages for personal, non-commercial use.
  • You may quote brief excerpts with a credit and a link to the original page.
  • You may not republish full articles, roundups or listings, scrape or bulk-copy the Site, or use our content to build a competing feed or data product without written permission from Anglers LLC.
  • "Montauk Fishing Journal" and our logos may not be used in a way that suggests we endorse you or your product.

Images: some images on the Site are AI-generated illustrations, used for layout and labeled as such on our Credits page. They don't depict real people, vessels or businesses.

Third-party material: short quotations from other publications, operators' fishing reports and official sources belong to their owners. We quote them briefly, with attribution and a link to the original post. If you own material quoted here and want it changed or removed, contact us (see section 10).

6. Third-party links and services

The Site links to websites we don't control, such as boat operators, tackle shops, government agencies and other publications. It also relies on third-party services such as hosting, content delivery, analytics and, when enabled, advertising. We aren't responsible for third-party sites' content, accuracy, availability, prices or privacy practices. A link isn't an endorsement. Your use of those sites is governed by their own terms and policies.

7. Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • try to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorized access to the Site or its systems;
  • use automated tools to scrape or harvest content or data, except for ordinary search-engine indexing that complies with our robots.txt;
  • click on ads, or encourage others to click on them, other than out of genuine interest;
  • use the Site for anything unlawful.

8. Corrections

If something on the Site is wrong, whether a schedule, a name, or a detail about your boat or business, tell us through the Contact page. We'll fix it and say that we did.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the "Effective" date above. Material changes will be noted on this page. If you keep using the Site after an update, you accept the revised terms.

10. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Anglers LLC is a New York limited liability company.
